Global Young Scientists Summit 2026: VGU Researcher Represents Vietnam alongside Nobel Laureates

At the start of 2026, Dr. Duong Hieu Linh, lecturer and researcher in the Master of Science in Materials Science (MSI) program at the Vietnamese-German University (VGU), was nominated by VGU and the National Foundation for Science and Technology Development (NAFOSTED) as one of only four elite representatives from Vietnam to attend the prestigious Global Young Scientists Summit (GYSS) 2026.

Held at the UTown campus of the National University of Singapore (NUS), this highly competitive, fully funded event brings together over 400 top young researchers from 57 countries alongside 20 of the world’s most celebrated scientific minds.

🌟 Direct Engagement with Global Scientific Luminaries

Over five intensive days of lectures, masterclasses, and small-group discussions, Dr. Duong Hieu Linh had the rare privilege of exchanging research perspectives with Nobel, Turing, and Millennium Technology Prize laureates:

  • Prof. Aaron Ciechanover (2004 Nobel Prize in Chemistry) — Known for discovering ubiquitin-mediated protein degradation.
  • Prof. Bantval Jayant Baliga (2024 Millennium Technology Prize) — Inventor of the Insulated Gate Bipolar Transistor (IGBT), which has revolutionized global energy efficiency.
  • Prof. Joan Rose (2016 Stockholm Water Prize) — A world-renowned microbiologist and global leader in water quality assessment.
  • Sir Tim Hunt (2001 Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine) — Renowned for discovering key regulators of the cell cycle.

!NOTEConnecting VGU to Global Networks: Dr. Duong Hieu Linh's nomination reflects VGU's growing international scientific footprint. Participating in GYSS enables our faculty to bring home cutting-edge insights, establishing direct collaboration bridges that benefit our master's students' thesis projects and international PhD pathways.

🚀 Accelerating Advanced Research at VGU

Dr. Linh looks forward to integrating these fresh global perspectives and collaborative opportunities into the MSI program's research initiatives—particularly at the intersection of biocalorimetry, sustainable polymer characterization, and the circular bioeconomy.

We congratulate Dr. Duong Hieu Linh on this exceptional academic honor, representing both VGU and Vietnam on the global scientific stage!
